Starting this past Sunday through this Saturday is referred to as National Police Week. It is a week to remember the fallen, support the living, and to never forget those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their communities, counties, states, and nation. The officers are wearing their mourning bands across their badges as a sign of respect for the fallen this week.

We have unfortunately had several local Officers, Deputies, and Troopers in our area make the ultimate sacrifice. Let us especially this week remember them, their friends, and families.

Thousands of officers travel to Washington DC during this week to visit the National Law Enforcement Memorial often referred to as the wall to pay their respects and visit the names etched forever into the wall. Its a humbling and sad experience to see a memorial site sadly grow every year often by over 100, sometimes hundreds of names yearly.

We appreciate the support we receive from many locally and during this week continue to ask for your support as residents, elected officials, and business owners to help ensure we can best do the job we are tasked with. Thank you and always help us remember the fallen.

We join in with the Chartiers Township Police Department in offering condolences to her friends and family. Humane Officer Cunningham was a wonderful asset who helped many departments across this entire region. She will be missed.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Humane Officer Cathy Cunningham.

Officer Cunningham served our community with compassion, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to the care and protection of animals. Her work reflected a deep sense of duty and kindness, and she made a lasting impact on both the animals she protected and the people she worked alongside.

Her professionalism, empathy, and unwavering service will be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who are mourning this loss.

Rest in peace, Officer Cunningham.

I wanted to share this post with appreciation for all the services involved. This takes resources to put together but it involves resources needed to help prevent our youth from making bad decisions that can result in arrests, injuries, and even death. The mission is to replicate a DUI related crash using student actors, live officers, fire departments, ems, and all the steps that involve these serious crashes. Our goal is to not traumatize but to educate through demonstration and discussion. If these mock crashes prevent as much as one young person from impaired driving it makes it worth it.

We returned to doing these with the school districts support in 2022 and work to complete every 2 years to capture multiple groups of students. I as the Chief proudly support the officers use of time to put these together and help where needed.

I want to thank Officer Cuccaro and School Resource Officer Dhanse for wanting to do this and doing a great job with it.

I thank Mt Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department, McDonald Volunteer Fire Department, Midway Volunteer Fire Department, Life Flight and Fort Cherry Ambulance Service. Each was well represented and did a great job.

I want to thank District Attorney Jason Walsh, First Assistant Leslie Mylan, and Chief County Detective Yarosh for returning to address the students personally and to sincerely express the aftermath from those bad choices.

Our local Magisterial District Judge Louis McQuillan was in attendance who also spoke with sincerity and professionalism to the student body. Thank you for attending!

Thank you to Greens Towing for supplying some vehicles and helping set them for a display reminder.

Finally, thank you to the school district and most importantly to the students who listened, paid attention, and hopefully make good decisions and have an amazing prom.
