Community theatre changes lives. Those of us who have taken part in community theatre know this first-hand.
For the past 10 years, we’ve gathered stories from volunteers, patrons, and others in the community about how Hickory Community Theatre has made a difference in their lives and, with their permission, shared those stories with our supporters.
The response has been extraordinary. Our supporters have been deeply touched to discover how their generosity changes lives, and they've come to understand that the Theatre is about much more than entertainment.
The stories that have been shared with us have included things we might never think of.
For some it has been about recovery from illness, loss or addiction.
Some tell us about how being here has helped them overcome personal challenges like social anxiety or re-joining the civilian world after military service in a war zone.
For others it’s been a way to meet new people, or find a sense of purpose in retirement.
There are many more examples, but the main point is this: whether you’re building sets in the daytime, backstage at the show, on stage, or working in the front of house, everyone deserves a place to belong.
So—how has being part of HCT changed your life? And—when did you realize it happened?
Hit reply and tell us your story. It doesn't have to be extraordinary to be meaningful. I promise you that someone will see themselves in your words.
Cheers!
John
