🏛️ **WELCOME TO The Historic District in Hidalgo Texas
It was a pleasure and an honor to welcome the **Edinburg Museum of History (The M.O.S.T.)** to the City of Hidalgo and our beautiful Historic District.
On **Monday, August 10th**, we had the privilege of welcoming **Dr. Francisco Guajardo, Director of the Edinburg Museum of History, and his team** for a special tour highlighting the history, heritage, and ongoing preservation efforts throughout our community.
The visit was hosted by our **Hidalgo Historical Association, Commissioners, Ms. Teresa Hi, Mr. Ezau Martinez, and Mr. Victor Perez**, along with **Hidalgo Preservation Officer Charlie Barrios**, who led the tour and shared the history and vision behind our preservation initiatives.
Our visit began at the **Hidalgo Pumphouse Museum and World Birding Center**, where **Director Melissa Sanchez and her staff** welcomed our guests and provided a tour of the museum, its grounds, and our beautiful **six-acre fishing channel**. The group also had the opportunity to walk toward the border wall and experience firsthand the unique history, culture, and natural environment that make Hidalgo such a special place.
The tour continued through our Historic District, including the **Hidalgo Historic Courthouse, Historic Post Office, Rodriguez Store, and Historic Jailhouse**, where our guests learned about the restoration and preservation efforts underway to protect these iconic landmarks for future generations.
Of course, no visit to Hidalgo would be complete without experiencing some of our local flavors! Our guests stopped at **Navas BBQ**, where they enjoyed some of the best barbecue South Texas has to offer and experienced another important part of our community—our local businesses and culinary culture.
The visit concluded at **Mozna Chocolate** , our local chocolate factory, where we learned about the craftsmanship and process behind producing high-quality chocolate right here in the City of Hidalgo.
🤝 **Visits like this are about more than tourism and preservation. They are about building relationships, strengthening trust, sharing ideas, and creating opportunities for future collaboration.**
By working together with our neighboring communities and cultural institutions, we can continue to preserve our shared heritage while creating new opportunities for education, tourism, economic development, and community engagement.
Here in Hidalgo, we are not simply **restoring history—we are RE-BUILDING HISTORY.**
