We've got some cumulus clouds building in the eastern Panhandles. While we only may not see much in coverage for the thunderstorms today we do expect something to develop in the next 1 to 3 hours (between 4 and 7pm). If a storm develops it will have the potential to be strong to possibly severe, with damaging winds and large hail as the primary threats.

🚨 WHY EMERGENCY ALERTS ARE IMPORTANT 🚨

Emergency alert push notifications are one of the fastest ways to receive critical information that could protect you and your family. These alerts are sent directly to your phone during dangerous situations such as:

β€’ Tornado Warnings
β€’ Severe Thunderstorm Warnings
β€’ Flash Flood Warnings
β€’ Wildfires
β€’ Hazardous Material Incidents
β€’ AMBER Alerts
β€’ Evacuation Notices
β€’ Law Enforcement Emergencies

These alerts are location-based, which means if you are in the path of danger, you will be notified immediately β€” even in the middle of the night.

πŸ“± Having emergency alerts turned ON can give you the extra minutes you need to:
β€’ Take shelter
β€’ Move to higher ground
β€’ Avoid a dangerous area
β€’ Prepare for severe weather
β€’ Help protect your family

In an emergency, seconds matter. Make sure emergency alerts are turned ON on your phone so you can stay informed, prepared, and safe.

Our emergency alert test message was sent out at 11:00AM today. If you did not receive the alert, be sure to turn on emergency notifications!

Hi! I am Samantha Blacksher, β€œSam” to most. I wanted to introduce myself to your communities as the new Higgins-Lipscomb EMS Administrator/Director.
I am a Wellington native and am also the Administrator/Director of the EMS service there. I have been a nurse since 2010 and decided I needed a change of pace in 2020 and life landed me as a Paramedic. I love health care and am very passionate about rural pre-hospital care. I am married to my best friend, Jj, and we have 2 sons, Matt who is 19 and Daniel is 12. We also have a daughter in law, Ariah and a 10 month old grandson, Jay Swayde.
I am really excited about serving the residents of Lipscomb and Higgins and I look forward to seeing all of your faces and getting to know you in the coming months! We have some fun planned for everyone in the near future, so watch for announcements on our page!
If you ever have questions or concerns for me to address, please feel free to call or text me, 806-664-0196.
Just remember, in an emergency, always call 911!

Here are a few pictures of the people I hold near and dear!
