The purpose of this site is to educate our community about who we are, what we do and to encourage support. We can't have a volunteer fire department without the community support! We are continually adding new information and features, so check back often. We respond to such things as: structural fires, woods fires, fire alarms, vehicle fires, automobile accidents, emergency medical calls, brush fires.

Although the Georgia Forestry burn ban has been lifted, Montgomery County remains under a county-issued burn ban per Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. At this time, all outdoor burning is still prohibited within the county. We will notify the public as soon as the county burn ban has been lifted. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Today, on International Firefighters Day, we take a moment to recognize and honor the brave men and women of the Higgston Fire Department, as well as firefighters across the world. This job is more than lights and sirens it’s long hours, missed time with family, and showing up on someone’s worst day ready to help without hesitation. It takes a special kind of strength, heart, and dedication to serve a community the way our firefighters do.
Here in Higgston, we are proud of the men and women who answer the call day and night, putting the safety of others before themselves. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and your sacrifices do not go unappreciated. Thank you for your courage, your service, and everything you do to protect and care for this community.
