All units have been cleared from the scene.

Thank you for your patience and please continue to travel safely.

🚨 ATTENTION — ACCIDENT
There has been an accident at Hwy 292 and James St. in Higgston.
Please avoid the area if possible and use an alternate route. Fire crews and EMS are on scene working the incident.
Please slow down, use caution, and give emergency responders room to work. 🚒🚑

Update as of 9:00 PM: Road still closed.

⚠️ Road Closure Alert ⚠️

Highway 29 near Big Al's is currently shut down due to a semi truck fire.

Please avoid the area and use an alternate route if possible. Emergency crews are on scene working to safely extinguish the fire and clear the roadway.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available. Please slow down and give first responders plenty of room to work.

We're excited to welcome Sparky the Fire Dog to the Higgston Fire family!
A huge thank you to City of Lyons Fire Dept for donating Sparky to our department. Sparky is a strong advocate for fire prevention and will help us educate our community on the importance of fire safety.
You'll soon see Sparky visiting schools, libraries, and community events, where he'll be sharing fire safety tips and helping teach children and families how to stay safe.
We look forward to seeing everyone out in the community with Sparky as we continue promoting fire prevention and public safety!

We are proud to announce that our department has been selected to receive emergency drinking water through the Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland Firefighters Program.
Each year, Anheuser-Busch temporarily pauses beer production to produce emergency drinking water. In partnership with the National Volunteer Fire Council this program helps provide volunteer fire departments with the critical hydration needed during extreme heat, wildland fires, and extended emergency responses. THANK YOU Anheuser-Busch and NVFC1!
We would also like to extend a sincere thank you Southern Crown Partners Vidalia for delivering the water to our station. Your support helps keep our firefighters hydrated, healthy, and ready to serve our community.
