CANCELLED. Stay safe everyone!

Happy holidays everyone!
The High Bridge Historical Committee is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting Santa at our upcoming Solitude Open House on Sunday, December 14th! Please join us at the Solitude House Museum for this free event to get pictures taken with Santa, and to paint home-made wooden ornaments!

12/12/2025

With many e-bikes and other battery-powered gifts sure to be on Santa’s list this year, now is the perfect time to review some simple lithium-ion battery safety tips.

Lithium-ion batteries power everything from e-bikes and scooters to toys, tools, and tablets, and while they work well, they can fail suddenly if damaged, overheated, or charged improperly.

When a lithium-ion battery enters thermal runaway, it can release toxic smoke, superheated gases, and rapid bursts of flame that can fill a room in seconds.

To help keep your family safe when using lithium-ion batteries, you should:

βœ”οΈ Check batteries regularly for swelling, punctures, or other damage
βœ”οΈ Use only manufacturer-approved chargers
βœ”οΈ Store batteries away from heaters, sunlight, or other heat sources
βœ”οΈ Never charge e-bikes or scooters inside your home

A few simple precautions can make all the difference. Stay safe!

The holiday season is just around the corner, and we need your help to make it magical for children in need!

When you give today, you'll help us fill our toy box with gifts and ensure every child has a present to open his holiday season. Your contribution, no matter the size, will go a long way in bringing smiles and joy to children who need it most.

The drop box is located inside Borough Hall during business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.. The last day to drop toys is December 15th.

A holiday safety message from the High Bridge Fire Department

The holiday season is a time for lights, family, and celebration, but it’s also a time when preventable house fires can occur. Christmas trees, especially when combined with decorative lighting, can ignite and start a fire in an extremely short amount of time.

Before you plug in those holiday lights, take a moment to put safety first:

β€’Turn off all Christmas lights before bedtime or leaving the home.
β€’Water your natural tree daily, dry trees burn in seconds.
β€’Use only lights rated for indoor or outdoor use as intended.
β€’Avoid overloading outlets and power strips.
β€’Keep trees a safe distance from heaters, fireplaces, and candles.

A few simple precautions can make all the difference in keeping your family and home safe this holiday season.

Let’s keep High Bridge merry, bright, and fire-safe.
