***ASHLAND COUNTY HIGHWAY GG CLOSURE***
***Beginning on May 26, 2026 through approx. July 31, 2026***

Ashland County Highway GG between Mellen and Clam Lake is scheduled to be closed beginning Tuesday , May 26, 2026 until completion on/around July 31, 2026 for bridge replacement over McCarthy Creek. This bridge is located in the Town of Marengo between Conley Road/FR 184 and Namakagon Road/FR 196.

Detour route is State Highway 13/77. See attached map.

Motorists must obey ALL Road Closed signage and barricades. They exist for your safety and that of the crew working to keep the highway safe for all motorists. PLEASE do not attempt to go around barricades and/or equipment & workers.

The Ashland County Highway Department is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of 180 lane miles of County Trunk Highway and maintenance of approximately 250 lane miles of State Trunk Highway.

North to northwest winds increase Sunday AM and will be strongest Sunday late evening to Monday mid-day. Gusts to 60 mph are forecast in southern Cook County Sunday late evening to Monday morning and could cause power outages and downed trees. Blowing snowfall is likely at times from these strong winds.

Heavy snowfall is expected starting this morning into Monday morning. Blizzard conditions are also expected in Ashland and Iron Counties this evening to Monday morning. The latest trends have reduced snowfall amounts for northern MN, changing our headlines there, but also making a very sharp gradient from the Twin Ports west into the Brainerd Lakes where uncertainty remains high.
