The High Bridge Fire Department would like to recognize Junior Firefighter Cosmo Gallo on his graduation from Voorhees High School today.

The members of the High Bridge Fire Department are proud to recognize not only this important milestone in his life, but also the impact he has already made within our department. Throughout his time as a Junior Firefighter, Cosmo has been a valuable asset to us. Whether helping around the firehouse, assisting at public relation events, participating in trainings/drills, or simply stepping up whenever needed.

We are also excited to announce that Cosmo will soon be taking the next step in his firefighting journey as he will soon be enrolled in Fire School for further his firefighting career. This opportunity reflects the dedication and enthusiasm he has shown since joining our department, and we have no doubt that he has a bright future ahead.

Please join us in congratulating Cosmo and wishing him the very best as he begins this exciting new chapter of his life. Your High Bridge Fire Department family is proud of everything you have accomplished, and we look forward to watching you continue to grow and succeed.

IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE A VIKE!

Yesterday was a busy day for the High Bridge Fire Department.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., units responded to a local residence to assist a homeowner after their cat became trapped inside a wall after entering a small opening. Squad 14 responded with a crew of five and was able to quickly rescue the cat before reuniting the little guy with his owner.

Just before 2:00 p.m., Ladder 14 responded into Washington Borough (Warren County) with a crew of six for a reported structure fire. Thanks to the quick actions of the first-arriving units, the fire was rapidly extinguished. Ladder 14 deployed its aerial device and assisted crews on scene with overhaul operations before clearing shortly after 3:00 p.m.

Last night, 18 members traveled to the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center to train on the use of our Paratech Hydra-Fusion struts. Crews practiced stabilization and lifting techniques involving a tractor-trailer in a simulated underride incident. Members participated in several lifting evolutions to sharpen their skills for these low-frequency, high-risk incidents.

As members were leaving the training center, we were dispatched into Clinton Township for an unauthorized open burn before finally returning to the station just after 10:00 p.m. to call it a night.

The High Bridge Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter Elena Eberle on successfully earning her National Registry EMT Certification yesterday.

This accomplishment reflects countless hours of training, studying, and dedication to serving others. Elena’s commitment to expanding her skills will further strengthen the department’s ability to provide emergency services to the residents of High Bridge and our surrounding communities.

Having members who are cross-trained as both firefighters and EMT’s is an invaluable asset to our department. Whether responding to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, fires, or other incidents, firefighter/EMT’s provide critical lifesaving care when every second counts.

Tonight, we had the pleasure of delivering pizza to David Milazzo, who recorded the fastest time on our Junior Firefighter Challenge course at Friday night’s Touch-A-Truck event!

David completed the course with a record-breaking time of 29.45 seconds!

Congratulations, David! Enjoy your pizza, and we hope to see you stop by the firehouse in a few years to fill out an application.
