Just before lunch today, Engine 8 was dispatched along with E6, T2, R1 Hazmat 1, and Bat 2
to assist Guil-rand FD for a traffic accident on Bus. I85 / Hwy 29-70. E8 arrived on scene first due to find a fully involved tractor trailer on its side under the old Thomasville Rd bridge. E8 crew pulled an attack line and preformed a quick knock down. Other crews also assisted with fire attack and nursing operations for water supply.

Recently promoted MFF Matheson’s pumped his first fire as the acting FEO.

Master Firefighters and relief drivers operate as the Fire Equipment Operator when the assigned FEO or Captain is off duty.

The B-shift crew at station 8, along with Engines 6, 3, 1 Trucks 2, 7 Rescue 1 and Battalions 2 & 1 responded to a reported residential fire on Foust Street late in the evening on 5/26/24. Light smoke conditions were found upon arrival, and a quick investigation found a working kitchen fire. A rapid advancement allowed for a quick attack on the fire to minimize damage and save the property. No injuries were reported and all occupants exited the residence safely.

For the first responding crew, this was recently promoted Master Firefighter Klein’s first residential fire as the acting pump operator. Good job FF Klein and all that responded!
