We participated in the accreditation process and attended the presentation this morning. Following that, I conducted visits to stations 1 and 7. Additionally, I met with the communications team and engaged in a productive discussion regarding potential improvements to our collaborative efforts. Our Union consistently advocates on your behalf.

Rest easy brother. 🙏🏻

We are heartbroken to share the tragic loss of another member of our High Point Police Department family. Drake Shinabarger, a 28-year-old police recruit, died unexpectedly over the weekend. He was set to graduate from Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) in June.

Shinabarger was passionate about serving others. He joined the police department last summer after serving a few years with the High Point Fire Department. He also served in the National Guard, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve.

While his time with our department was brief, his impact was lasting. He was a leader among his recruit class, a friend to our future officers, a strong advocate for our department's wellness program, and someone you could always count on for a smile or laugh.

Family and friends will gather to remember Shinabarger on Saturday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at Redland Church, IPHC (137 Baltimore Road, Advance).

We ask that you keep his wife, son, family and friends in your thoughts during this tough time. Our department is committed to ensuring his family receives the support and privacy they need as they grieve this devastating loss.

It's been a difficult few weeks for the men and women of HPPD. We are grateful for the continued kindness, prayers and support from our community.
