UPDATE - Suspect taken into custody.

🚨 LAW ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITY – COMMUNITY NOTICE 🚨

Law enforcement officers are currently in the area of the 24300 block of U.S. Highway 27, near the Chevron, attempting to locate David Medlock, a white male, DOB 01/13/1992.

Medlock reportedly fled on foot and is wanted in connection with a nonviolent warrant. At this time, he does not appear to pose an immediate danger to the public.

PROTECTING OUR YOUTH REMAINS A PRIORITY

The attached video highlights a previous enforcement action at the Chevron located at 18828 High Springs Main Street, where an arrest was made involving a store tenant related to the unlawful sale of to***co products to minors.

Since that time, we have continued to receive allegations and community concerns regarding similar transactions, including reports involving very young children. We take these concerns seriously and will continue conducting compliance efforts, including undercover operations, to identify and address the unlawful sale of to***co and other age-restricted products to minors.

We are extremely pleased with the owners of the property for taking these concerns seriously and implementing proactive measures. The owners recently terminated the lease with the occupants of the store following continued concerns and violations, and new leadership is being put in place at the location.

This is a strong example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement, property owners, businesses, parents, and the community work together.

Protecting our youth is a priority, and together, we will continue working to keep High Springs safe.

📚 Welcome Back, Students & Staff! 🎒

The High Springs Police Department is excited to welcome our students, teachers, administrators, and staff back for another school year!

We are proud to have dedicated School Resource Officers serving our local schools:

👮 Officer Gainey and Sgt. Lumpkin are assigned to High Springs Community School.

👮 Officer Parker is assigned to First Christian Academy.

Our School Resource Officers are trained and prepared to respond to threats and help maintain a safe learning environment, but their role goes far beyond safety and security. They are also here to serve as mentors, positive role models, and trusted resources for our students.

Students, please feel free to say hello, ask questions, or speak with one of our friendly officers if you need assistance. Working alongside school administrators, teachers, counselors, and staff, our officers are here to support students and help address concerns when they arise.

We look forward to a safe, successful, and rewarding school year for everyone. Welcome back! 💙

As students head back to school on Monday, August 10, the High Springs Police Department reminds everyone that our School Zone Speed Safety Camera Program is back in effect.

Please slow down, stay alert, and obey the posted speed limits in all school zones. Our goal is simple—protect our children, crossing guards, school staff, and families as they travel to and from school each day.

Thanks to your cooperation, we’ve seen a 99% reduction in speeding in our monitored school zones. Let’s continue working together to keep our community safe.

The High Springs Police Department has arrested a Marion County man following an investigation involving the online solicitation of a minor.
This case demonstrates our continued commitment to protecting children and holding offenders accountable. We commend the dedicated work of our investigators and law enforcement partners in bringing this case to a successful conclusion.
