What an incredible year it has been at HES! Our students worked hard and achieved impressive growth in both math and literacy. Beyond academics, they showed us every day what it means to be kind friends, responsible students, and caring members of our school community.

We were lucky to wrap up the school year with fantastic weather for our Field Day celebrations. It's always a gift when the sun shines on us!

As we head into summer, we hope all our Hawks keep reading and participate in our Summer Reading Bingo Challenge. More info and BINGO boards can be found at our website at https://hes.mvsdschools.org and posted in ParentSquare.

Thank you to our students, staff, and families for a wonderful year. Have a safe, happy, and adventure-filled summer...play some frisbee and have fun!

Pick up free meals for your kids right here at the school on Thursdays, 4:30 to 5:30 PM starting June 18th and running through August 20th!

You can pick up 14 free meals for each of your kids every week between June 18 and August 21! These free meal boxes are available to all children under the age of 18 and can be picked up at the following places and times weekly:

-Highgate Elementary, 219 Gore Rd. Highgate
Thursdays 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM

-Swanton Central School, Bushey St. Bus Loop, Swanton
Fridays 7:00 AM - 8:15 AM

-Sheldon Food Shelf, 52 Church St. Sheldon
Fridays 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

We closed out a great week with a performance from the Highgate Actors Theater, affectionally known as "HAT". Way to go!

Things are getting HOG WILD at HES as we Pack the Pig for our final playground fundraiser of the year! 🐷💰

Our grade levels are in a friendly competition to see who can stuff the piggy bank the fullest, and Amber Lafar, our HES Banker, is working overtime as the piggy banks get heavier by the day!

Community members who would like to help us squeal across the finish line are welcome to stop by this week and make a donation. Every penny helps us continue building an amazing playground experience for our students!

Highgate Elementary 4th graders recently took an important walk over to the town park for a meaningful Memorial Day learning experience. Students helped raise a new flag, placed flags at the headstones of Highgate servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice, and worked together to clean headstones while learning the true meaning behind Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

This annual event helps connect history and community in a way that brings learning to life for our students.

A special thank you to community member Ty Choiniere for supporting this tradition each year and helping connect our students to their town, its history, and those who served before us.

This week, we celebrate the incredible educators of Highgate Elementary—those in classrooms currently and those that have served years prior. From teachers to bus drivers, kitchen and facilities staff, front office, and coaches—everyone who supports our students is a teacher in our book, and we are so grateful for all you do each and every day.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing PTKO for the notes, treats, and thoughtful daily acts of kindness that have made this week so special. 💙
