Due to a phone and Internet outage, Summit County Animal Control will open today, Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 12:00pm

Staff will only be able to complete adoptions and owner redemptions, and all transactions must be cash only.

Through August 31, adoption fees are just $28 for dogs like Arlo and his fellow shelter friends Summit County Animal Control.

Residents can visit the facility during business hours or call 330-643-2845 to schedule an appointment.

This past Sunday, Executive Shapiro joined many community members to celebrate & honor the life of Cascade Locks Park Association's founding member and Akron Rotarian, Virginia Wojno-Forney.

Executive Shapiro and Councilwoman Liz Walters were excited to share that Summit County is directing a $20,000 grant to Cascade Locks Park Association to continue to support Ginny's vision of sustainability, human connection to one another and nature, and uplifting the Cascade Valley.
