A new interior firefighter.
On Tuesday with nice weather all of our apparatus with a good turnout of members headed down to the sewer plant to drill. To become an interior firefighter our members must successfully complete the NYS Firefighter 1 class, complete our task book, and a final hands on test. Tuesday was testing night for Firefighter Larry Dunn. Larry had to complete a timed evolution where he had to deploy and flake out a 200-foot minuteman hose load, call for water, be in full PPE on air and flowing water. Larry was on air flowing water at the 90 second mark after air brakes. Outstanding work that’s a result of hard work and great training both at the county level and as part of our in-house training program for new members. Tuesday also happened to be the first night for a new member. He received training on the hydrant position and got a little introduction to operating a hose line. All this would not be possible without our dedicated members who show up and share experience and develop the next generation of firefighters. If you are interested in joining our team or want to learn more contact us or stop at our firehouse on a Tuesday night.
