We are looking for the support of our residents as the village board will be putting out the tentative budget at the Monday nightboard meeting. It is our understanding one of the board members that is not a village resident and is consistently attempting to destroy the village services will again try to eliminate the village dispatch. This service is important to the operation of the police department and a faster response of its police services to our residents. They believe using 911 is a better service but over the years we have had countless calls that were dispatched by 911 to our agency for violent incidents sending officers to the wrong address or wrong type of incidents placing our residents in more danger. As of right now if you call 911 by cell phone it sends the call to Putnam county which has to redirect the call to Orange County 911 thus adding more time to the response of critical potentially life-saving services. Why isn’t this member going to West Point where they live and demanding them to cut their patrols, dispatch and security? Is it because they feel they deserve better protection than the village residents?
