Ohio's first deaf officer faced 150+ job rejections before landing his badge in Highland Hills.

Yesterday, members of the Highland Hills Police Department, Village staff, Village staff families, a dedicated resident, and her Jeep crew came together to prepare and distribute 100 lunch bags to local men’s and women’s shelters.

It was truly heartwarming to serve individuals who are often overlooked and to remind them that they are seen, valued, and supported. Seeing the smiles, conversations, and appreciation throughout the day was a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and helped make our National Night Out a success. A special thank you to BJ’s Wholesale Club in Warrensville Heights and Giant Eagle in Beachwood for their generous donations. Because of your support, we were able to provide meals to 100 individuals in our community.

As Howard Thurman said, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

Today, we celebrated the birthday of our bus driver, Doc! Happy Birthday, Doc! We appreciate everything you do and are grateful to have you as part of our team.

National Night Out is an annual event that brings communities and law enforcement together to strengthen relationships and promote public safety.

This year, we’re doing something a little different. Instead of a traditional gathering, the Highland Hills Police Department is inviting our community to join us in giving back. Together, we’ll pack bagged lunches and travel downtown to distribute them at local men’s and women’s shelters.

We believe serving our community goes beyond our Village limits. Join us as we make a difference, one meal at a time.

Today, members of our department purchased one of our residents a new bicycle. Mr. Mays commutes from Highland Hills to Highland Heights for work, but his bicycle recently broke down. When we learned about his situation, we knew we had to take action.

We are grateful for the opportunity to lend a helping hand and support the members of our community whenever we can.Highland Hills, Ohio
