This Thursday evening, May 14: Don’t miss your chance to try these delicious vegan cheeses at Non-Dairy’s Not Scary: Alternative Cheese Tasting and Presentation!

Our very own Teen Services Librarian Mx. Melaina will guide you through the world of alternative cheeses. You’ll learn about how to use non-dairy cheeses in different kinds of recipes, and you’ll taste several examples of alternative cheeses!

Join the Adult Services department for the Past Time Book Group, a new book group focusing on historical fiction! On May 7, we will discuss the novel Train Dreams, by Denis Johnson.

This novella is the story of early twentieth-century day laborer Robert Grainer, who endures the harrowing loss of his family while struggling for survival in the American West against a backdrop of radical historical changes. Netflix adapted it as a film in 2025.

Curious about how to invest safely? On Tuesday, April 21, at 7 p.m., the Seton Hall University FINRA Investor Advocacy Program will give a presentation at the library on Safe & Smart Investing: An Intro for Everyday People.

This program is presented by James "Bryan" Cavallaro, B.A., and current law student at Seton Hall University School of Law. It is offered through the Seton Hall University Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Investor Advocacy Program (IAP), which provides general information on legal limitations and investor rights. This presentation does not constitute legal or financial advice.

Seton Hall Law’s IAP is nationally recognized for its leadership in investor education. Its initiatives promote informed financial decision-making and raise awareness of investment risks, including those associated with social media, scams, and professional misconduct.

Join the Adult Services department for Do Readers Dream of Electric Book Group, a new book group focusing on science fiction & fantasy!

For our first meeting on Monday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m., we will discuss the novel The Dispossessed, by Ursula K. LeGuin.

A science fiction classic for the ages, The Dispossessed is the spellbinding story of anarchist Shevek, the “galactically famous scientist,” who single-handedly attempts to reunite two planets cut off from each other by centuries of distrust.

You are welcome to participate even if you have not finished the book, but be prepared for spoilers.
