TRAFFIC ALERT: The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close all lanes of northbound and southbound I-35E at Corporate Drive from 10 p.m. Saturday, August 15, until 11 a.m. Sunday, August 16, for bridge work.

TRAFFIC ALERT: CONSTRUCTION I-35E / CORPORATE DRIVE BRIDGE

Texas Department of Transportation has scheduled the following closures. Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time and avoid the area is possible starting on Thursday, Aug. 13-Sunday, Aug. 16.

* Thursday, Aug. 13, 8 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 14, 2 a.m.: NB and SB I-35E managed lanes in Lewisville, from I-635 in Dallas to Swisher Road in Corinth, will be closed, so crews can remove an overhead street sign near the Corporate Drive bridge.

* Thursday, Aug. 13, 9 p.m.: One main lane of NB I-35E will be closed.

* Thursday, Aug. 13, 10 p.m.: two additional main lanes of NB I-35E closed, so crews can remove the rest of the overhead street sign near Corporate Drive.

During this time, one NB main lane of I-35E will remain open. A temporary exit has been created so traffic can exit I-35E just before the closure zone. Traffic will be allowed to re-enter I-35E using the first on-ramp immediately after Corporate Drive.

All this work for this part of the project is expected to be completed by 5 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14.

* Friday, Aug. 14, 8 p.m. through Saturday, Aug. 15, 11 a.m. and Saturday, Aug. 15, 8 p.m. through Sunday, Aug. 16, 11 a.m.: lane and ramp closures in both directions along I-35E in and around Corporate Drive due to bridge demolition.

Police officers will be on hand both nights to help direct traffic.

Help keep Highland Village a great place to live. Volunteer your time and expertise by serving on one of these City Boards or Commissions:

• Board of Ethics – Applies rules of conduct for city officials, employees, and volunteers. Meets as needed, with at least one meeting each year.
• Community Development Corporation – Studies and funds trails and soccer field projects authorized under the Section 4B sales tax. Meets as needed, with at least one meeting each year.
• Parks & Recreation Advisory Board – Advises on the City’s parks system and recreation programs. Meets the third Monday of each month or as needed.
• Planning & Zoning Commission – Recommends residential and commercial development proposals to City Council. Meets the third Tuesday of each month or as needed.
• Zoning Board of Adjustment – Reviews requests for variances and special exceptions to the zoning ordinance. Meets the first Thursday of each month or as needed.

Appointed volunteers serve two-year terms and provide valuable input to City Council and staff on a variety of community issues. Serving is a great way to learn how local government works and help shape the future of Highland Village.
