Mann for Mayor I am running for Mayor. Why? Because I want to continue to improve transparency, access to public officials, and ensure decisions are based on good data.

One of my favorite activities as mayor is spending time with our youth. Thank you Troop 953. They even learned how to make banana nut bread and shared some with me. Thanks for making my day.

Tonight is Caucus night for most political parties (Democrats 6:30 PM, Republicans 7:00 PM). If you haven’t served as a delegate or party officer in the past please consider it. We often complain about the actions of elected officials. Getting involved affords us the opportunity to fix problems before they happen and allows us to build a network of contacts that can help resolve issues when they inevitably arise. For a list of caucus locations for each party and precinct, a precinct map and my thoughts on delegates and precinct officers click on the link below.

I share my views on religion, politics, and life in general. I also use the blog as a forum to discuss Highland City issues.

The unofficial election results are in. There should not be any significant changes between now and the final results which will be released on Nov 21. I want to thank those who supported me throughout the campaign. Sadly my mother-in-law, Nola Sears, who was one of my biggest supporters is not here, as she passed away last Friday. However, I am sure she is cheering on other side.

Congratulations to Kurt Ostler and Scott Smith who will be new members of the council next year. Thanks to those who took the time and effort to run (Jessie Schoenfeld, Chris Kemp, and Dennis LeBaron).

As much as I enjoyed knocking and doors and getting to know many of you, I am glad this phase is over and am anxious to begin the next four years of service. You have my contact information, please don't hesitate to use it. My commitment to you is that I will continue to listen, share what I learn and provide you with information about what the city is doing and why. I hope you stay involved we make better decisions together than apart.

~663 Highland Ballots remain to be counted. The following is an excerpt from an email candidates received today from Erin Wells, assistant to the city administrator. Note, if the uncounted ballot number is correct we will have had 472 few voters in the general election than the primary.

"As you know, the numbers from last night are preliminary. The final canvas will be on Tuesday, November 21. The County updated us today with the number of ballots yet to be counted. Highland has at least 663 ballots remaining. They are broken down as follows:

* Election Day Drop Offs - 185
* Election Day Provisionals - 130
* Mail-ins Received Today - 348

Of course there could be a few more come through the mail and some of the provisionals might not be counted, but I wanted to pass along the information. The County's goal is to at least have the mailed in ballots counted for Thursday's release."

Here's a link to a post that contains all 8 "Mann for Mayor" endorsement videos. They are each 1 minute or less and if you haven't seen them and are still looking for information about the mayoral candidates it would be worth your time. These were unscripted messages from those who know me and who may have a different political affiliation, or disagree with me on some issues, or in at least one case did not vote for me when I ran for city council. Find out why in spite of these differences they support my candidacy for mayor. Remember ballots must be postmarked by Monday November 6th or dropped off at City Hall by 8 PM on Tuesday November 7th. http://mannkindperspectives.blogspot.com/2017/11/mann-for-mayor-endorsements.html

Several issues have been raised during the campaign that require more than sound bite responses. They include the Road Fee, Annexation, the Fire District, and Reserves. Here are my thoughts. Feel free to share yours.

I share my views on religion, Utah politics, and US politics plus info on the life and works of William George Jordan and my father, Ron Mann.
