We are deeply grateful to the Service League of NWI , one of our longtime supporters, for believing in our mission from the very beginning—when we were a grassroots organization with just one program, two staff members, and a deep conviction that survivors of sexual trauma can overcome shame and pain.
Thanks to your unwavering support, today we stand as Indiana’s FIRST stand-alone r**e crisis center, with a dedicated team of 18 staff, 24/7/365 crisis response services, and comprehensive prevention education programs. And looking ahead to 2027, your belief in our work will help bring Portside Suites—our stabilization housing project—to life...updates coming soon!
Thank you for continuing this journey with us as our Ally Compass Sponsor once again in 2026. Your partnership is changing lives! 🩷

Supporting Loved Ones: Connection is a Powerful Form of Care

One phrase often heard throughout the Fair Haven RCC office is: “Ask for what you need.” No one should have to navigate difficult times alone, and everyone deserves support, compassion, and dignity along the way.

“See the Person. Support the Journey.”
Advocating for choice through the provision of resources empowers healing and helps individuals overcome challenges with support tailored to their needs. Our trauma-informed advocates are available 24/7 to listen, support the journey, and empower choice through our R**e Crisis Line: 📞 Call or Text: 219-218-2552

Additional support is also available through: 📞 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline — Call or text anytime, anywhere in the U.S. Learn more: 988 Lifeline

SAMHSA also offers helpful resources for families impacted by substance use and mental health challenges, including guidance for children and loved ones navigating difficult situations. You don’t have to figure this out alone. 💜

📣Did you know that Fair Haven RCC’s Youth Services Department offers support groups for teen survivors?

During Teen Self-Esteem Awareness Month, it’s important to recognize that adolescence alone can be challenging for developing a positive self-image — and the trauma of sexual abuse or assault can deeply impact a teen’s confidence, emotional wellbeing, and mental health.

Our support groups provide teens with a safe, affirming space to build healthy coping skills, reduce feelings of isolation and shame, and connect with others who understand their experiences. Through guided discussion and activities like art, journaling, mindfulness, breathing exercises, and movement, teens are empowered with tools that support healing and resilience.

💚Your teen does not have to suffer alone.
💜Your teen does not need to carry shame.
💙There is HOPE.

A huge THANK YOU to Matthew Stegner from Stegner Training and Consulting for providing a much needed training on trauma-informed investigations to members of our Sexual Assault Response Team.

We had law enforcement, investigators, nurses, community-based and system-based advocates, prosecutors, and DCS from all over Northwest Indiana in one room, all coming together to do the best we can for the survivors in our communities. When we all come together to work toward the same common goal, lives are changed!

💚 Mental Health Awareness Month – Week 3 💚
Words Matter & Words Can Heal

At Fair Haven RCC, we recognize that the words we choose can impact a survivor’s healing journey. That is why all staff and volunteer advocates complete trauma-informed training to better understand how to approach, support, and empower survivors of sexual violence.

Our advocacy begins by believing. Creating a safe, supportive environment helps build trust, encourages collaboration, and allows survivors to make empowered choices regarding their healing and safety planning.

Compassionate communication can reduce shame, restore dignity, and remind survivors they are not alone. 💜

💙 National Police Week 💙
During National Police Week, Fair Haven RCC extends our gratitude to the law enforcement professionals who serve and protect our communities each day.

We especially appreciate the officers, detectives, and allied partners who work alongside advocates to support survivors of sexual violence with compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to justice.

Thank you for the long hours, difficult work, and sacrifices made in service to others. Your dedication helps create safer communities and provides support during some of the most vulnerable moments in a person’s life.

We honor those currently serving and remember the officers who gave their lives in the line of duty.

💚 Teen Self-Esteem Awareness Month 💚
A change in a teen’s confidence, behavior, or self-esteem can sometimes be connected to difficult or unsafe experiences — including trauma or inappropriate situations.

At Fair Haven RCC, our Youth Services Department provides compassionate, trauma-informed support for teens ages 11–18 who have experienced sexual violence and trauma. Through advocacy and support groups, we strive to create safe spaces where teens feel heard, supported, and empowered in their healing journey. 💜
