Unused/Expired Medication Take Back Day

Tomorrow from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Highland Police Department will be participating in the unused and expired medication take back day.

Residents of Highland and the surrounding area may bring unused or expired medications to our office for safe disposal. Drop-offs are anonymous.

This is a safe and easy way to help keep medications out of the wrong hands and protect our community.

If this event is successful, the Highland Police Department hopes to add a year-round medication drop box to provide the community with a permanent safe disposal option.

The Highland Police Department recently received a report about a common text message scam circulating in our area.

These messages often claim you have a traffic violation or unpaid ticket and include a link to a website. If you click the link, the site may attempt to collect your personal or financial information.

Our department will never send text messages asking you to pay fines or provide personal information through a link.

If you believe you may have a legitimate traffic citation, contact the law enforcement agency or the Kansas Department of Revenue directly using their official phone number or website — never through a link sent in a text message.

You can learn more about recognizing and reporting text message scams here:
