July 4th, 2026 – Highland, KS – CHANGES

All,

This year the DCFD #2 Firefighters are changing things up.

We are NOT hosting a hamburger and hotdog feed at noon.

Instead, we are hosting a fish and chicken fry from 5-8pm at the Highland, KS Community Building.

We are looking for entertainment for the evening.
If you are a musician, singer, choir, band, comedian, juggler, magician, mime, author, etc. we are looking for you.
We would like you or your group to fill 30 minute or 1 hour spots.
All performances/acts must be family friendly.
No compensation, except showcasing your talents and getting some good grub.

🚫🔥 Burn-related damage can lead to power outages or energized lines falling to the ground — creating a dangerous, potentially deadly situation.- Before you burn:
– Check weather and wind conditions
– Clear vegetation at least 4 feet around pole bases
– Wet the base of nearby polesA little preparation goes a long way toward preventing serious hazards.

Spontaneous combustion of oil soaked rags can and will happen. Environments and conditions are different for every situation, so don't think it can't happen to you. This is just a sample of the oils out there, and this doesn't happen with just woodworking oils.

Spring has sprung, well okay, maybe it’s just the time springing ahead an hour this Sunday morning to Daylight Savings Time.

This Saturday night, March 7th, 2026, before you go to bed, go ahead and set your analog clocks ahead an hour.

Also, do you notice how many pictures we have about changing the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

So yes, please go ahead and do that, as this can save you and your family.

Please test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace the batteries.

Please replace your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors if they are 10yrs old or older.

Please have both smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. They can be an all-in-one device, just have both and in working order.

Please don't be one of the many sad statistics.
