Huge shout out to Douglas County's Senator Jim Smallwood. Senator Smallwood's op/ed linked below brings both necessary exposure to the failings of state-ran healthcare, while also highlighting the facts and figures of the failing program. Smallwood gets right down to brass tax - the "Colorado Option" which is code for government-ran healthcare has lived up to the promises that Senator Smallwood knew it would.
It has:
- Raised premiums on Coloradans versus lowering them;
- Forced large health carriers to partially withdrawal from the Colorado market, or entirely all together;
- Made necessary competition dry up, especially in rural counties -- resulting in higher, monopolistic costs while squeezing citizens
With a lack of choice, extreme Leftists in Colorado are destroying freedom of choice for many citizens in choosing their doctors.
Thank you Senator Smallwood for taking a principled stance on this issue. Now, more than ever, citizens need fighters to continue to look after them.
