This week, the HFD collaborated with Station 31-1 from Navesink on a training exercise, which included three vital life-saving drills. These drills play a critical role in maintaining our firefighting proficiency, allowing us to provide high-quality service to our residents. We also welcome the chance to engage in joint training activities with nearby towns.

πŸš’β„οΈ Highlands Fire Department Winter Safety Reminders β„οΈπŸš’

As we continue through the winter season, please take a few moments to help keep your family, neighbors, and our first responders safe:

πŸ”₯ Keep Fire Hydrants Clear
If there is a hydrant near your home, clear at least 3 feet of space around it and make sure there’s a path from the hydrant to the street. In an emergency, every second counts β€” your help allows firefighters quick access when it matters most.

πŸ”Œ Generator Safety Matters
Portable generators should never be used indoors, in garages, or near windows and doors. Always operate generators at least 20 feet from your home in a well-ventilated area and ensure you have working carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your home.

🚫 Don’t Shovel Snow Into the Street
Snow cleared from your driveway or vehicle should be placed on your property β€” not back into the roadway. This creates dangerous driving conditions and can slow emergency response times.

Working together helps keep our roads accessible and our community safe this winter.

Thank you for doing your part!
