At our Town Council meeting last night, we honored our own Deputy Sheriff Joshua Buchanan as he received the Letter of Commendation Meritorious Conduct Award from Sheriff Banks Hinceman for his role in helping save a child from the Henry Fork Waterway on May 20, 2026. Deputy Buchanan jumped into the chest-high waterway to rescue the child. Thank you, Deputy Buchanan, for all you do to protect our community! Burke County Sheriff's Office

📖August's book for our Storybook Trail is "The Princess and Her Pearls" by Ellie Bell. This story helps little ones recognize their emotions, take a breath, and find comfort in knowing that everyone cries sometimes. This book correlates with our upcoming Royal Park Tales this Saturday. More information will be shared soon.

Bring your children to Royal Park and enjoy the outdoors while spending time with your kids. (Unfortunately, our splash pad is still closed due to water restrictions.)

The trail starts at the Albert Parkhurst Municipal Complex front parking lot (202 S. Center St., Hildebran) and runs left, around the Wayne Davis Amphitheater, and ends near the new concessions building.

Our Storybook Trail is ADA compliant!

Be sure to visit the other Storybook Trails in Burke County - Town of Drexel, Town of Valdese, and Town of Rutherford College!

Due to a resignation, we are now taking applications for our Events Committee! You must live within Town limits to apply. Applications are due by noon on Wednesday, August 12th.

There is one open position. This volunteer position will serve a term effective immediately through June 30, 2028.

Breaking news: For only the 2nd time in its history, the Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis. Patients may already be impacted. Blood donations have fallen to a 4-year summer low. Donors, especially those with type O blood, are needed ASAP to help save lives.

An EBHS student and the Town of Hildebran are hosting a blood drive tomorrow, Friday, 7/31, in our gym. Details to sign up for the drive are listed on the flyer.

The American Red Cross reports that we are days away from a blood supply crisis — because there simply aren't enough blood donations coming in.

Doctors could have to make difficult choices about who receives blood transfusions and who has to wait. Your support during this time can help ensure every hospital patient continues receiving routine and timely medical care.

The Town and an EBHS student are sponsoring a blood drive on Friday, 7/31 at our gym. Please consider signing up to donate if you can!
