Active until 9:15 AM CDT today - This is a serious weather alert with multiple hazards:
• 60 mph wind gusts - Can damage roofs, siding, and trees
• Quarter-size hail - Will damage vehicles and make roads slippery
• Continuous lightning - Extremely dangerous, move indoors immediately
• Torrential rain - Could lead to flash flooding
Affected areas include: Norton, Oberlin, Hill City, Almena, Lenora, Norcatur, and Bogue.

Scattered thunderstorms forecast to develop along the Colorado Front Range late this afternoon will track east toward the Kansas border this evening (Saturday August 22, 2026). A few storms capable of producing small hail and localized wind gusts up to 65 mph are possible, mainly in eastern Colorado between 7-11 pm MDT.

Cluster of storms is now moving south-southwest into NW Kansas. Half dollar to golf ball size hail has been reported in McCook along with wind gusts around 60 mph.

**230pm Forecast Update: Developing cumulus north of I70 may lead to a storm or two this afternoon into the early evening.**

Scattered storms forecast to develop along/north of the I-80 corridor in Nebraska late this afternoon (Thursday August 20) may evolve into a cluster that tracks southward into north-central Kansas late this evening and early Friday morning. If this is the case, damaging winds and a few instances of large hail are possible, mainly north of I-70 and east of Highway 83 after sunset. Low confidence with regard to thunderstorm coverage — and whether or not an organized cluster (or line) of storms will develop.

Clusters of storms have developed and are moving in from the west and south. They are mainly moving east-northeast. Primary hazards are Flash Flooding, Damaging winds up to 70 mph, and Hail up to 1.50". Areas in the Blue Box have the highest chances for seeing severe weather this evening.

A line of storms are moving east-northeast through the area. The primary hazards are a possible 70 mph gust or two as well as Flash Flooding. Areas in the Blue Box should see the storms move in the next few hours.
