Happy Thanksgiving!
Flex-Core is closed Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 in honor of this holiday to spend time to rest with loved ones. We are thankful for every customer, vendor, and employee who has persevered during this wild year. We especially appreciate the hard work and dedication our employees have provided despite the increase in safety protocols, workload, and material shortage.

In celebration of National Small Business Week, we wanted to share our small business history. Don Morlan was a manufacturer’s representative that traveled, mainly in the Midwest, to sell and install energy and power monitoring packages. He regularly turned to a colleague that owned a small company called Flex-Core for sourcing rubber encapsulated, split-core transformers that were easy to utilize in the often retrofit applications found with mill and foundry installations. The time came where the original company owner of Flex-Core was ready to retire and was going to close the business. Don asked to purchase his entire scope of designs, equipment and supplies, and a deal was made with a handshake. Don Morlan started developing the Flex-Core business in 1977 as a division of Morlan & Associates, Inc. The contents of the entire Flex-Core company fit into the trunk of his car. He began manufacturing the transformers in his one car garage and soon required the help of his daughter, current President Teri Shaw, along with several of her high school friends. 44 years later, several moves and expansions, multiple improvements to the primary transformer, and Flex-Core is still a family owned small business, producing at industry level capabilities, with higher accuracy CTs, and more custom applications than ever before.
