🔬✨ STEM Activity Afternoon Fun at Hillsboro Elementary! ✨🔬

Our students had an amazing time during our STEM Activity Afternoon, exploring, creating, and learning through hands-on experiences!

A big THANK YOU to our wonderful teachers and community members who ran engaging stations including:

🌱 Planting
🚀 Catapults
💨 Fans & airflow experiments
🏁 Marble races
🎨 Painting and assembling birdhouses
💡 Circuits
🔗 Chain reactions
🔍 Exploration station

Our students were excited to build, test, and discover how science, technology, engineering, and math come together in the real world. It was an afternoon full of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration!

We are so grateful for the support from our school community in making learning come alive for our students. ❤️

Awards will be at 11:00 on June 12th, with lunch following. 3-hour early dismissal.

☀️ Summer Programming Alert! 🌊

Pocahontas County Schools is excited to share that our Brainwaves & Sunrays Summer School Program—now sponsored by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21CCLC) Grant—is back for another year!

📅 Program Dates: July 6 – July 30

📍 Locations:

Green Bank Elementary School
Marlinton Elementary School
Hillsboro Elementary (small group intervention)

⏰ Schedule:

GBEMS: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Mon–Thurs)
Marlinton Elementary: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM (Mon–Thurs)
Hillsboro Elementary: As needed

✅ Open to rising 1st–4th grade students
✅ Meals included
✅ Limited transportation available
⚠️ Spots are limited! Deadline to sign up is June 5!

Today was the annual staff vs. 5th grade kickball game, and the energy was like never before! As the 5th grade headed out to the field, the cheers and chants were loud and proud!

In an unbelievable and exciting outcome, the 5th grade pulled off a huge victory defeating the staff 14 to 9.
