As of February 17, 2026, a burn ban is in effect for Henry County, Iowa, due to abnormally dry weather conditions causing significant fire hazards. Open burning is prohibited, including landscape waste and debris. Violating this ban is a simple misdemeanor, and residents should check local fire department guidance for updates.

Key details regarding the Henry County burn ban:
Status: Active burn ban in place as of mid-February 2026.

Restrictions: All open burning is prohibited, including trash, leaves, and landscape waste.

Exceptions: The ban typically does not apply to properly supervised, permitted, or contained fires, such as those in metal containers, barbeque grills, or for authorized agricultural, or public training purposes, according to typical State Fire Marshal guidance.
Violations: Open burning during a ban may lead to criminal charges, fines, and restitution costs.
Duration: The ban remains in effect until conditions improve and fire officials notify the State Fire Marshal
