The Missouri Quality Prekindergarten (MOQPK) Grant application is now open. MOQPK grants are available for eligible public school districts and public charter schools (MOQPK-LEA), child care programs (MOQPK-CC), and Head Start programs (MOQPK-HS) to deliver prekindergarten services for the 2026-27 academic year. All MOQPK grant recipients must meet the quality standards outlined in statute (161.213 RSMo) and rule (5 CSR 25 100-340).
• Programs must serve children who are age 4 by July 31, 2026, and classrooms must include children who are at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty level.
• Classrooms must be operating by September 8, 2026.

• Deadline to apply is June 19, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
• Due to anticipated funding levels, applicants should only request slots they expected to fill with eligible students.
o School districts should consider the availability of other early childhood funding sources, such as Foundation Formula ADA, when determining the number of slots to request. A full list of preschool funding sources can be found on the Preschool Funding Map.
o Child care and Head Start programs should consider other funding sources, such as Child Care Subsidy, when determining how many slots to request.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Department) is providing guidance related to funding for new Missouri Quality Prekindergarten (MOQPK) Grants.
