Hillsboro Public Library is thrilled to be chosen as one of 20 libraries in the US to host the “Pulitzer On The Road: Prize-Winning Works that Inform, Empower & Inspire,” a six-week traveling exhibition. The exhibit will open in Hillsboro in May 2028. Watch for more information in the coming months.

The American Library Association and The Pulitzer Prizes have announced 20 libraries selected to host “Pulitzer On The Road: Prize-Winning Works that Inform, Empower & Inspire,” a six-week traveling exhibition that includes appearances by Pulitzer Prize winners, vividly designed panels, immersive interactive stations, and compelling storytelling.

Host libraries, which serve a diverse range of communities across the U.S., will receive cash grants to support public programming and activities. Pulitzer Prize winners, local media, and other guests and organizations will participate in events throughout the tour.

The national tour will kick off in October at Chicago Public Library’s Harold Washington Library Center and Dallas Public Library’s J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, remaining on display in both cities until December. The two launch events will feature a slate of renowned Pulitzer Prize winners, including authors Percival Everett (2025 Fiction winner), Daniel Kraus (2026 Fiction winner), Amanda Vaill (2026 Biography winner) and photojournalist Jon Cherry (2022 Breaking News Photography winner) in Chicago, and author Barbara Kingsolver (2023 Fiction winner) and composer Gabriela Frank (2026 Music winner) in Dallas.

The exhibition and all associated events are free and open to the public. Read more and see the list of host libraries: https://bit.ly/4bWjWPk

🏛️ LOCAL HISTORY MYSTERY! Can you guess what famous Hillsboro landmark this is? Drop your guesses below!🤔

We found this amazing vintage architectural rendering tucked away in a corner of the staff area at the Hillsboro Public Library. It's signed by local artist Dottie Murray and dated 1982. The artwork perfectly details the beautiful architecture using pen-and-ink line drawings, brought to life through intricate cross-hatching and stippling. Interestingly, it's reproduced on smooth, semi-transparent drafting vellum, giving it a slick, photo-like feel. The dramatic orange sunburn down the side? That’s decades of UV light oxidation on the sensitive paper from sitting rolled up and partially exposed to the sun for over 40 years!
