For training this week your Chalybeate Volunteers completed a detailed check-off of Engine 801 after recently returning to service.

This includes running power equipment such as saws, fans and generators, operating the pump, testing our SCBAs and inspecting hand tools to ensure proper operation of all equipment.

Engine 801 is our primary engine and it responds to all structure fires that we are called to.

It carries:
1,000 gallons of water
1,000 feet of large diameter supply hose
500 feet of attack hose
4 Scott SCBAs
An assortment of hand tools such as axes and pike poles
Extension, Roof and Attic ladders
Thermal Imaging Cameras
As well as other equipment!

On Thursday night, your Chalybeate volunteers participated in training on lifting and moving patients on backboards, scoop stretchers, stokes baskets and our automatic CPR device!

Regular training with these items increases our efficiency on scene but also improves the safety of our patients by practicing proper lifting techniques to reduce potential accidents while carrying patients.

Have you ever considered a career in emergency medicine? Joining a Volunteer Fire Department is an excellent way to gain valuable experience and skills! We also have reimbursement programs available to help pay for the EMT course.

Today, on International Firefighter’s Day, we want to proudly recognize the brave men and women at Chalybeate Fire and our surrounding departments that we work closely with!

These firefighters answer the call- day or night, rain or shine- putting their lives on the line to protect our communities.

These firefighters take time out of their busy schedule to respond to emergencies at a moments notice- and it’s not just emergencies. They also pour time into other things such as, cleaning equipment after calls, participating in training, serving at fundraisers and everything in-between.

We are extremely proud of our bunch and want to highlight them today.

Attached are some photos of our members and apparatus on different calls, events and trainings.
