Caddo-Midway Fire & Rescue District is offering FREE smoke detectors to families who do not currently have working smoke alarms in their home. Even better, our volunteer firefighters will install them for you at no cost.
Working smoke detectors save lives. They provide early warning during a fire and give families precious time to get out safely.
If your household does not have smoke detectors or you are unsure if yours are working, we encourage you to take advantage of this free service.

Your Chalybeate volunteers have had a busy day so far! We started off by having 6 members attend a class on pre-hospital burn management hosted by Hillsboro Fire and UAB Burn Center!

Immediately following the class we responded to 3 calls within an hour.

At 1118 we were dispatched to a wreck at the intersection of AL-24 and CR-217 which resulted in multiple injuries and the roadway partially being closed. We responded with a rescue, engine and 5 members.

While the wreck was ongoing we were dispatched to two separate EMS calls and we responded with an engine and 3 members to each.

We want to thank all agencies that responded to assist, Caddo Fire, Greg’s Ambulance Service, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence County EMA, Decatur-Morgan EMS, and Speake Fire utilizing their “Rescue 9” program.

Thank you to SAUCED, Calvary Tabernacle and the Chalybeate community for another successful fundraiser! We stayed consistently busy the entire time and are extremely thankful for everyone’s support!

These fundraisers are essential for our operational readiness and ability to respond to emergencies such as the wreck we responded to with an engine, rescue and 4 members while the fundraiser was running.

Come join us Friday at Calvary Tabernacle Church on AL Hwy 24.

There was one citizen injury reported, the patient was evaluated and refused transported to hospital at that time by Greg’s Ambulance Service.

We would also like to thank Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with closing AL-33 for the duration of this
