A few more photos from this morning's Storytime! The attendees were treated to stories, a game and a craft. If you would like to join the fun, mark your calendars for the first Thursday of every month until April. The next class is 10:20-11am, Thursday, October 1!

Our first Storytime of the 2026-27 school year is underway, featuring two guest storytellers - Rachel Winter and Kathryn Sibayan - as well as a new format. Storytime will be held from 10:30-11am on the first Thursday of each month through April, no registration required! All children 5 and under are welcome, but we do ask that guardians stay with those 3 and under.

We're excited to begin Storytime TOMORROW featuring two guest storytellers, Kathryn Sibayan and Rachel Winter! Kathryn and Rachel are both retired educators who currently serve on the Hillsboro Public Library Board of Trustees. Storytime will be held from 10:20-11 am in the City Hall Community Room across the hall from the library, and it is open to children 5 and under (3 and under must be accompanied by a guardian).

Storytime begins Sept. 3 with a new format!

Hillsboro Public Library will introduce a new Storytime format for the upcoming school year, beginning September 3. In the past, Storytime was limited to children ages 3 to 5, and participants were required to register. With the new format, registration isn’t required, and the monthly Storytime will be open to all children ages 5 and under, though children 3 and under are required to have a guardian present.

“Two goals we have with making changes to the library’s existing Storytime format are to reach families who might not be able to commit to weekly/bi-weekly classes, but would like to come when they are able, and to better serve families with various ages of young children,” said HPL director Malinda Just. “We hope these changes will help the library reach more families in our community with quality programming.”

Storytime will be from 10:20 am to 11 am on the first Thursday of each month from September through April and will be held in the City Hall community room across the hall from the library.

It was a joy to host the HES 5th grade classes, taught by Mrs. Janzen and Mrs. Jaworsky, this morning for tours of the library! We hope you all have a wonderful school year...and happy reading 📚
