Highland County Sheriff’s Office Incidents

June 8th
A deputy responded to Fawley Rd at Anderson Rd after a report of a disorderly male. This incident remains under investigation.

A resident of the 11000 block of Jury Rd reported an unruly juvenile.

June 9th
A deputy responded to the 4200 block of State Route 124 after a complaint of harassment. After investigation, a Lynchburg man was given a warning for telecommunications harassment and was trespassed from the property of the caller.

A deputy responded to a residence on W Main St, Mowrystown, after a report of a domestic disturbance. After investigation, both parties refused charges, parties agreed to separate.

Sheriff Sanders is pleased to introduce Project Lifesaver International to the citizens of Highland County.
Project Lifesaver International is a premier international search-and-rescue program operated by public safety agencies to assist at-risk individuals who may wander or elope due to autism, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other cognitive conditions. The program's primary mission is to provide a rapid response that helps save lives and reduce the risk of injury.
To bring this valuable service to Highland County, five deputies from the Highland County Sheriff's Office recently completed specialized training with a Project Lifesaver International instructor and are now certified search specialists.
Families who have a loved one who may benefit from this program are encouraged to learn more about enrollment. For additional information or to enroll a participant, please get in touch with Chief Deputy Jennifer Schinkal by email at [email protected] or by phone at (937) 840-6237.
If you have a loved one in the program and they are missing, please call 911 immediately; do not call the number provided for information. Our dispatchers are trained to handle a 911 call regarding a missing person in the program.

On June 4, 2026, at approximately 7:00 A.M., our office received a 911 call stating a car was on the side of the road on Prospect Road. The caller advised that the car was smoking, and no one was around the vehicle. A deputy began responding from the Lynchburg area. A second 911 call was received stating that a guy yelled at the caller and ran away. The deputy arrived and found a male walking a short distance from the crash, and picked up the male. He was identified as Jerry Lynn Trisdale. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The property owner was notified, and Jerry Lynn Trisdale was cited for failure to control. Please remember that 911 calls are public records, and anyone can put in a public records request and receive the 911 recordings.

Jun 1st
A resident of the 8000 block of Patton Rd reported vandalism to a bean field.

Deputies responded to the 10000 block of State Route 771 after a report of a disorderly person. A male who was reported to be disorderly left prior to the deputy’s arrival.

A resident of the 2900 block of Beltz Rd reported harassment.

A resident of the 200 block of Sycamore St, Lynchburg, reported the theft of a bicycle. After investigation, it was determined that the caller sold the bicycle to the suspect, who did not pay the full price agreed on. The male paid the balance of the purchase price, charges were declined.

Jun 2
A Deputy responded to the 100 block of Freiberg Ave after a report of a disorderly person. After investigation, the disorderly person agreed to separate from the caller for the night, no charges issued.

May 29th
Deputies responded to the 1600 block of U S Route 50 after an anonymous call of a domestic disturbance. After investigation, it was determined that the complaint was unfounded.

A deputy responded to the 200 block of Starcrest Dr. after a report of threats was received.

A resident of the 3400 block of Beltz Rd reported the theft of fuel. This incident remains under investigation.

May 30th
A deputy responded to the 1900 block of State Route 73 after a report of a suspicious person. After investigation, Brandon C Gustin, 24, of Greenfield, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

A resident of the 300 block of Pearl St, Lynchburg, reported a domestic disturbance. After investigation, Kimberly A Bales, 42, of Lynchburg, was arrested and charged with domestic violence.

A deputy responded to the 8100 block of Patton Rd after a complaint of trash dumping. After investigation, Preston J Hendricks, 19, of Portsmouth, was cited for depositing litter on private property.

Deputies responded to the 1000 block of DeHaas Ln, after a report of trespassing.

May 27th
A deputy responded to the 7100 block of Hill Rd after a report of an unruly juvenile.

A resident of the 4300 block of Robinson Rd, reported harassment.

After investigation a male was warned for disorderly conduct.

A resident of the 7000 block of Highland Trl N reported a disturbance. After investigation, charges were declined. A male was given a warning for disorderly conduct.

May 24th
Deputies responded to the 11000 block of Centerfield Rd after a report of a prowler. After investigation, deputies located a male hiding in the residence. The male, identified as Devin M Miller, 20, of Jamestown, was arrested and charged with burglary.

A resident of the 11000 block of Aberdeen Way reported an assault. After investigation, charges are pending for a Hillsboro man for assault.

A resident of the 1100 block of S Gath Rd reported an unruly juvenile.
