Highland County Sheriff’s Office Incidents

Sept 4th
A Deputy responded to the 12000 of State Route 28 after a report of a disorderly person. After investigation, it was determined to be a verbal dispute, no charges were issued.

A resident of the 400 block of Park Ave, Lynchburg, reported fraud.

A resident of the 4500 block of Anderson Rd reported an incident of vandalism.

A deputy responded to the 6400 block of State Route 138 after a report of a disorderly male. The male had left prior to the deputy’s arrival.

Sept 5th
Deputies responded to the 2700 block of Stephen Rd after a report of a female being disorderly. After investigation, a female was transported to Highland District Hospital.

Highland County Sheriff’s Office Incidents

Aug 30th
Deputies responded to the 10000 block of North Union Rd after a report of a domestic disturbance. After investigation, Seth Z Michael, 34, of Hillsboro, was arrested and charged with domestic menacing.

A resident of the 6600 block of Sleepy Hollow Pkwy reported a theft and vandalism.

A deputy responded to the 9900 block of Shamrock Ln after a report of an unruly juvenile.

Aug 31st
A resident of the 7300 block of Russell Rd reported fraud.

Deputies responded to the 13000 block of Cynthiana Rd after a report of a domestic disturbance. Parties had separated, and a male had left the scene prior to the deputy’s arrival. This incident remains under investigation.

A resident of the 600 block of Frye Rd reported a disorderly person. After investigation, a female agreed to leave the residence. No charges were issued.

The Highland County Sheriff’s Office Records Division will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

The Records Division will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Please note that this closure applies to the Records Division only. The Highland County Sheriff’s Office will continue normal law enforcement operations and emergency services throughout the holiday.

We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Labor Day!

Highland County Sheriff’s Office Incidents

Aug 28th
A resident of the 10000 block of State Route 124 reported receiving threats. Charges are pending.

A deputy responded to the 11000 block of North Shore Dr. after a report of a person under the influence of drugs. After investigation, a male was transported to Highland District Hospital for treatment.

A deputy responded to a report of road rage in the 11000 block of U S Route 50. After investigation, Bryce A Young, 27, of Hillsboro, was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing.

Aug 29th
A deputy responded to the 8000 block of Hereford Rd after a report of a burglary. This incident remains under investigation.

After careful consideration, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office has made the decision to adjust the operating hours of our Records Division. Effective immediately, the new hours of operation will be Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. We have assessed the number of transactions our Record Division has processed during Saturday business hours for 2026 and it was less than fifty for the entire year. If you cannot make it in during these hours contact our office at (937) 393-1421 option 2, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

A resident of the 6300 block of Fair Ridge Rd reported fraud.

A resident of the 11000 block of Dundee Dr. reported harassment. After investigation, a Hillsboro man was given a warning for telecommunications harassment.

A resident of the 7400 block of Oak Ridge Rd reported harassment.

A resident of the 12000 block or State Route 28 reported disorderly conduct involving juveniles.

Aug 22nd
A resident of the 11000 block of Karnes Rd, reported the theft of a vehicle. This incident remains under investigation.

A deputy responded to the 2500 block of State Route 134 after a report of trespassing. After investigation, a Sardinia female was trespassed from the property.

Aug 23rd
Deputies responded to the 3100 block of Neal Rd, after a report of a large fight. After investigation, Corlee M Akers, 20, of Hillsboro, and Levi J Smallwood, 18, of Sardinia, were both charged with underage consumption.

A deputy while on patrol in Madison Twp, attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 100 block of Jefferson St. The vehicle refused to stop and continued eastbound on State Route 28, into Ross County. The vehicle came to a stop a short time later near Blaine Lane. The driver identified as Wyatt C Swackhammer, 20, of Chillicothe, was charged with OVI, and underage consumption. A passenger, identified as Jasmyne R Smithberger, 19, of Circleville, was charged with underage consumption.

Highland County Sheriff Office Incidents

Aug 19th
A deputy while on a call in the 6600 block of State Route 753 observed a vehicle passing by at a high rate of speed, operating in a reckless manner. The deputy attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle that continued southbound on State Route 753 before the deputy lost sight. A short time later, the deputy was returning northbound on State Route 753 when the vehicle pulled from a driveway, northbound on State Route 753. The deputy performed a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Michael A Campanaro Sr, 49, of Hillsboro. Campanaro was charged with possession of drugs, failure to comply, tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.

Aug 20th
A deputy responded to the 400 block of Limerick Dr after a report of a domestic dispute. After investigation, it was determined to have been a verbal dispute over personal property. No charges were issued.

Highland County Sheriff’s Office Incidents

Aug 17th
A deputy responded to the 600 block of Frye Rd after a complaint of trespassing. After investigation, it was determined to have been a dispute over a public right of way. The issue was deemed to be a civil issue, no charges issued.

A resident of the 12000 block of State Route 28 reported an assault. After investigation, charges are pending for a Greenfield woman.

A deputy responded to the 5300 block of Danville Rd after a report of theft. After investigation, it was determined the items taken had been thrown away in a dumpster. No charges were issued.

A resident of the 7500 block of Mad River Rd reported telecommunications harassment.

Aug 18th
Deputies responded to the 2400 block of State Route 138 after a report of trespassing and property damage. After investigation, Noah O Chapman, 18, of Lynchburg, was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and criminal damaging.

A deputy responded to the 11000 block of Maple Trail after a report of an unruly juvenile. After investigation, all parties involved were spoken to and no charges were issued.

A resident of the 4200 block of State Route 124 reported harassment. Charges are pending for a Georgetown man.
