After completing basic CERT training, local residents have the option of joining our response team which focuses providing resources that professional responders can rely on during emergency and disaster situations, allowing them to turn their attention to more complex tasks. Advanced training is provided areas of service such as severe storm spotting, event crowd control, and fire scene rehabilitation. Hill County CERT members may also assist others in their neighborhood following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. Response team members are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community. Tia Marie Seibel, a founding member of Hill County CERT, and her husband, Graeme, received the news that every military parent fears: their son, Devin, lost his life in service to our country on Sunday in Iraq. Tia, our entire team, indeed our entire community, honors Devin and the ultimate sacrifice he has made for our country. We will be here for you - that is we do for each other, and in the meantime, we lift you and your family up in prayer. God bless you.
