AGRICULTURAL AIRCRAFT ALERT

Many of you may have noticed small aircraft flying extremely low over the past couple of days and may have been alarmed. Rest assured, the small aircraft are agricultural aircraft helping our local farmers prepare for harvest and the next crop! Please don't be alarmed if you see these aircraft flying very low over trees, powerlines, or residential areas. These pilots are trained to fly this low and are very experienced in the operations.

These aircraft will be in our area for the next week or so, taking advantage of the dry weather before harvest! Best of luck to all of our farmers and stay safe out there!

In the rare and unfortunate event you truly see an aircraft crash accompanied by a large smoke plume/fireball, please dial 911 IMMEDIATELY.

Today is Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day, and we're honoring the dedicated men and women who selflessly serve their communities.

On 08/14/2026, HVFD was dispatched in the early morning hours for a semi-trailer fire. The driver was able to disconnect the tractor and move it away from the fire, saving it. The fire was extinguished, and there were no injuries.

This fire required significant manpower due to the amount of cargo within the trailer that required extinguishment. Thank you to Alto-Oak Grove VFD, Pelham VFD, Monteagle Fire, CCEMA, THP, T-DOT, and Monteagle Towing and Recovery for all your assistance.

We’ve got some major heat in our area for the time being, so take a few extra precautions to keep yourself and your loved ones safe!

💧 Drink PLENTY of water! Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

🐾 Keep your pets cool! Bring them indoors when possible and make sure they have plenty of cool, fresh water.

🚗 Check the backseat! Before you walk away from your vehicle, always check for children. Cars can become dangerously hot in just minutes.

🔥 Be careful with outdoor burning! Hot, dry conditions can cause fires to spread quickly. Check burning restrictions before burning anything and never leave a fire unattended.
