Data Center Update: Last week Hillsboro City Council, EDC, and Planning/Zoning officials toured a data center in Irving. Hillsboro folks toured the entire facility and viewed server rooms (data halls), generators, etc, while learning about the facility's water and power use, fire suppression technology, staffing, and other issues. Currently the Provident data center project is no longer under contract and may not move forward, but City and EDC officials are continuing to learn more about data centers so that any future projects - and their benefits and drawbacks - can be evaluated thoroughly and the citizens' interests protected.
