🚔 🚔 Explorer Success Spotlight #5 – Detective Marcos Quintana

As we continue our countdown to the Hillsboro Explorer Post #8164 Open House, we are proud to highlight former Explorers who turned their interest in law enforcement into careers of service.

This week, we are proud to recognize our very own Marcos Quintana, a member of the inaugural class of the Hillsboro Explorer Program.

After beginning his career with the Hillsboro Police Department as a Patrol Officer, Detective Quintana became a Field Training Officer. He was later promoted to Corporal and then to the rank of Sergeant. He now serves as a Detective in the Criminal Investigations Division. Most recently, he earned his Basic Instructor Certification and continues to pursue his bachelor’s degree while expanding his training and professional development.

Marcos also gives back to the program that helped begin his journey by serving as an Explorer Advisor, where he helps recruit, train, and mentor current students. He also serves as a mentor at Hillsboro High School through Mentors Care.

Interested in learning more about the Hillsboro Explorer Program? Join us at our Open House on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Historic City Hall. We invite students entering grades 9–12 who are interested in law enforcement, leadership, and public service to attend.

🚔 Explorer Success Spotlight #4 – Officer Crystal Guerrero

As we continue our countdown to the Hillsboro Explorer Post #8164 Open House, we are proud to highlight former Explorers who have turned their interest in law enforcement into careers of service.

This week, we are proud to recognize former Explorer Crystal Guerrero, one of our Explorer Program alumni who now serves as an Officer with the Houston Police Department.

After her time in the Hillsboro Explorer Program, Officer Guerrero earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University before joining the Houston Police Academy. She has proudly served in the Patrol Division with the Houston Police Department, where she continues to grow. Most recently, she completed the department’s Investigator School and is preparing for the next chapter of her career. Before transitioning into investigations, she will attend Field Training Instructor (FTI) School, where she will help train the next generation of Houston police officers.

Officer Guerrero’s dedication to continuing her education, seeking new opportunities, and serving her community makes her an outstanding example of what hard work and perseverance can achieve. She is an inspiration to our current and future Hillsboro Explorers.

This afternoon, our Hillsboro Police Explorers brushed up on their marching skills and color guard movements as they prepare for Hillsboro’s Late Bloomer 4th of July Parade.

If you see them at the parade, be sure to give them a wave and cheer them on.
