Yesterday, Mayor Catherine Payne joined township staff, members of the Hillsborough Police Department, Susyn Timko, and Jim Finkel at the municipal building to tie teal ribbons in observance of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

During the gathering, Mayor Payne presented Susyn Timko and Jim Finkel with a township proclamation officially designating September 2026 as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in Hillsborough.

Ovarian cancer remains a deeply impactful disease, with the American Cancer Society estimating over 20,000 new diagnoses and more than 12,000 lives lost in the U.S. this year alone. Because early detection is the best defense, raising awareness about key risk factors—such as age and family history—is vital for women and the loved ones who support them.

Throughout September, Hillsborough Township honors those we have lost, stands alongside those currently fighting, and encourages all women to speak with their healthcare providers to learn more about risk factors and early detection.

Over a century of roots right here in Hillsborough! For today’s Hillsborough Farm Week highlight, Mayor Catherine Payne visited with Connie & Charlie at Norzdale Farm to celebrate a family that has been working our local land for over 100 years.

Centuries of tradition show in everything they do. Norzdale Farm specializes in raising top-quality Hereford cattle and producing fresh hay, while also providing sheep and pigs for the region. Generations of hands-on experience and dedication make them a true cornerstone of Hillsborough’s agricultural heritage!

Thank you to the Norz family for keeping our town's farming legacy strong for more than a century. Be sure to show your support for this incredible local staple!
