The Bellevue Branch Stream Stabilization project restored natural habitat features in a small stream within the Odie Street Habitat for Humanity neighborhood. We're about halfway through the monitoring period and will be looking for volunteers to help with invasive species removal this fall. Here are the before and after photos so far! The North Carolina Community Conservation Assistance Program is a voluntary, incentive-based program designed to improve water quality through the installation of various best management practices (BMPs) on urban, suburban and rural lands not directly involved with agriculture production. During these dog days of summer, remember to pick up after your pets! One gram of dog waste contains millions of bacteria. Dog waste also doesn't biodegrade quickly -- it sticks around for a long time compared to other animal waste. This means it can cause excess nutrients in our waterways and contribute to harmful algal blooms and other water quality impacts. Please share this video and spread the word!

Did you know that Hillsborough has a Rain Barrel Program? Through this program, Hillsborough residents can purchase a rain barrel at a discounted price and schedule pickup in town. It's not too late to collect some rain for your plants this summer.
