A flooding event last night once again brought together Hillsdale’s Emergency Services to stand-by outside of one of the borough’s flood zones. (, , & .371 )Flood waters reached stage 2, at which time numerous homes and streets are flooded and closed. Local residents are unable to leave the houses. At approximately 9pm, one family of 4 was evacuated using our high water vehicle and members of the fire department’s swift water rescue team. The people were safely removed from their home and brought to dry land. The flood waters began to slowly recede after 10pm.

PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT

The Hillsdale Police Department is advising residents of a black bear sighting on the west side of town in the area of Ann Blanche Smith School.

Animal Control has been notified and is responding. Residents in the area are advised to remain indoors if possible and do not approach or attempt to follow the bear. Please keep children and pets inside.
