Just so we are all on the same page with the Educational Facilities Improvement District, do NOT think for one second this isn’t being controlled by the school superintendent-save one or two members.
This district is to act independently from the school board AND the LPSS, however the school superintendent has already placed items for the board, to have an open meeting concerning the adoption of a resolution for the sales tax. These members have not even been sworn in and already the politics of this have started.
This EFID Board, as obligated by state law, is to assist the school boards, not the school superintendent. The superintendent has taken it upon himself, without LPSB approval, to set the meeting agenda, by-laws and push the public meeting for the tax on November 17, 2022 at the EFID meeting.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY REASONS I AM RUNNING FOR SCHOOL BOARD!!!
Zero accountability at all…🤬
This law can be researched at Louisiana Law Statutes Title 33

Just heard through the talk channels I said we should pool all money in a general fund and distribute it equally amongst all
Schools in the parish.
So, let me
put that rumor to sleep right now.
I would never EVER be in favor of putting all the tax money and splitting it equally amongst the schools in the parish. However, the 1 cent sales tax this current board is trying to push through by using the tax district WILL DO JUST THAT. 80-90% of all tax revenue in this parish comes from DS and Walker. So, by their own attempt to paint me in a negative light, they have actually admitted to what they’re going to do, which will take the DS and Walker revenue to pay for their tax.
Be careful what you listen to, my friends. We are making waves and your voices are being heard! Remember, vote for what you want and who you want.

So, there seems to be some confusion in what I said about the 1 cent sales tax last night. Let me clarify my position:
1) I will not support a tax that is NOT SPECIFIC to teachers and support staff ONLY. There have been people in the central office, who have received raises without board approval and then the LPSB allowed the raises to stand-save one school board member. So, unless the tax is written and worded specifically for teachers and support staff, excluding central office persons, I will not support it-period.
Furthermore, before I support any tax on this parish, an external audit of the following items must be performed:
Insurance, contracts and maintenance. We must streamline and institute cost savings internally before we reach out for a tax.
2) my personal opinion is if we could get out of state and federal over site, I would pay a 50% tax to give our school system autonomy over what we are teaching our children; no federal, or state funding, allows LP parents, teachers, and voters to deem what is right and appropriate for our kids.
3) I HATE TAXES. However, it is up to the people of this Parish to determine what they are willing to do when it comes to a tax for pay raises, should it come up for a vote. The LPSB cannot institute a tax on anything because that is up to the people. All they can do is put it on a ballot…see items #1 & #2 if you are still confused on my stance.

I want our teachers and support staff to be the highest paid in our area. However, I will not do it by taxation UNTIL we ensure our money is being appropriately apportioned,
waste is brought under control and every single option has been explored.
That is my stance on a tax, so please feel free to reach out to me if you need to.

I have yard signs that need a place to go. Show your support in my bid to become the LPSB District 4 board member, by placing a sign in your yard. We are 4 weeks out and I need your support!
Just give me an address and I’ll drop it off for you…
