Edwin H. Mookini Library The Library was named for Edwin H. Mookini, professor of mathematics at UH-Manoa and Chancellor of the University of Hawai'i at Hilo from 1975-1978. The Edwin H.

Normal Semester hours listed above. Library hours subject to change, check website for latest information. Mookini Library, completed in 1981, is located in the heart of the campus. Available are 260,000 bound volumes and 1,100 current periodicals from Hawai‘i, the U.S. mainland, Asia, and Europe. Special formats collected include DVDs, films, audio and video cassettes, slides, compact discs, and

microforms. In addition, the library is a depository for both United States and Hawai‘i State documents and currently holds more than 350,000 U.S. documents. The Hawaiian Collection room houses the library's extensive Hawaiiana holdings. To ensure student proficiency in use of these collections, the Library offers a comprehensive program of library instruction. Library materials aside, the Mookini Library provides other services and facilities that further the academic mission of the University. Other facilities in the library include ample audiovisual playback equipment as well as computers with software for course work and connections to the Internet. Students may also confer in the library's group study rooms located throughout the building. Computer technology is increasingly used to meet the information needs of the University community. The Library's catalog is now available on Hawai‘i Voyager, a Web-based library management system. The library's reference service is enhanced by dozens of online databases. Cataloging and interlibrary loans of materials take place through the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), an online library network consisting of 41,000 member libraries in 82 countries and territories. This network provides the University community ready access to materials from the University of Hawai‘i system libraries and other cooperating institutions.
