Our volunteer fire fighters worked quickly last night to secure the scene and helped extricate victims from their vehicle during this accident. Firefighters coordinated as a team to provide support to multiple patients at once — calm, focused, and ready.

That readiness doesn’t happen by accident. Our volunteers train every Monday night, practicing real-life scenarios just like the one that unfolded last night. That training is what allows us to work seamlessly with each other, and with partner agencies. We appreciate the assistance provided last night by Monroe County Sheriff's Office - Rochester, NY , North Greece Professional Firefighters Local 3827, Monroe Ambulance, and Gates Volunteer Ambulance Service, Inc.

Nights like this are why we do what we do. If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, this is your sign — visit www.hiltonfd.org
to learn how to get involved and be ready with us when a neighbor needs help.

Our thoughts are with the family from last night’s accident. We’re wishing them a fast and full recovery, and we’re grateful to the medical teams continuing their care. 🚒❤️

**UPDATE** Due to the severe thunderstorms in the area we have DELAYED the start of our Hilton Fire Department Carnival tonight until 6:00 PM to allow the grounds to dry out some. 🌧️ 🎡

This unfortunately means we had to cancel the Kiddie Parade that was originally scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM.

🚨 AIR QUALITY UPDATE — Hilton Fire Department 🚨
Following the NYSDEC's Air Quality Health Advisory and guidance from Monroe County Executive Adam Bello, Hilton FD in coordination with Webster Volunteer Fire Department, is adopting Monroe County's air quality safety protocols to protect our community during tonight's Grand Parade and Carnival — both still on as scheduled.
📊 Monroe County AQI Thresholds & Actions:
https://www.monroecounty.gov/news-2026-07-15-air
🟡 AQI 151–200 (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups): Kids, adults 65+, pregnant individuals, outdoor workers, and those with heart/lung disease should limit prolonged strenuous activity and monitor symptoms closely. Youth sports/camps should reduce intensity and take regular breaks.
🟠 AQI 201–300 (Very Unhealthy): All outdoor youth activities and competitive sports are paused or moved indoors. Non-strenuous outdoor events must shorten schedules or provide protective masks.
🔴 AQI 300+ (Hazardous): All outdoor events canceled, regardless of activity level. Outdoor work restricted or suspended.
"The health and safety of our community and our volunteer firefighters is always our highest priority," said Hilton Fire Department Chief Dave Maggio. "With outdoor summer traditions underway, including our Grand Parade, we are keeping a vigilant eye on the atmosphere. We urge all community members to understand their individual health risk factors and follow these sensible guidelines to stay safe outside."
We're monitoring AQI in real time with Webster FD and our Medical Director using airnow.gov, and will act immediately if conditions change during tonight's events.

Hilton FD statement regarding the air quality index (AQI) for the Hilton Fire Department Carnival:

After consultation with our Medical Director we have confirmed there are no guidelines by Monroe County regarding monitoring air quality that would shut down any outside events at the current AQI.

Monroe County’s guidelines can be found at: https://www.monroecounty.gov/news-2026-07-15-air

We urge the public to do what they feel is best for them. Elderly individuals or those with preexisting conditions should be cautious and if you feel uncomfortable with the AQI, you please do what you deem best for yourself and family.

Below is the most recent AQI map (2pm). We have moved out of the red and into orange. The AQI is predicted to continue to improve throughout the night. We currently see blue skies to the north.

The carnival will go on as planned tonight and the remainder of the week. Hours are:

Wed 6pm - 11pm
Thur 530pm - 11pm
Friday 6pm - midnight
Saturday 3pm - Midnight
