Keep all the firefighters deployed on this fire in Gilliam County in your prayers!
Two of our Hines Fire Department firefighters are on mutual aid as part of an Oregon State Fire Marshal strike force with our Tactical Water Tender, Tender 1.
We obtained this Tender from Depoe Bay Fire Department and it's been put to a lot of use since we've put it into service. Now it is helping our neighboring communities in time of need.
Stay safe folks!
🔥 HOAG FIRE UPDATE 🔥
July 18, 2026, at 4:17 p.m.
Our Public Information Officer responded to the Hoag Fire and spoke directly with fire command.
An updated acreage is not readily available. We hope to receive a more accurate estimate after aircraft can fly over the incident.
Fire command provided the following information:
Two residences were lost in the Blalock Canyon area. Exact addresses are not available at this time.
Five outbuildings were also lost.
No residences were lost along French Charlie Road.
Containment lines on the northern side of the fire are holding. The fire was not actively growing in that area while our PIO was on scene.
Fire personnel are actively patrolling the Lower Rock Creek and Middle Rock Creek areas and extinguishing hot spots. A re-kindle was reported near the Rock Creek School house but with a quick response from Chief Claughton and Cedar Springs Ranch, the fire was quickly extinguished.
If you are not a landowner or assigned fire resource, please remain out of the affected area. Multiple power lines are down along Lower Rock Creek Road. The lines have been made safe for fire personnel, but hazards remain throughout the area.
As our PIO was preparing to respond to the Porcupine Ridge and Hopkins fires, the Sully Fire ignited in northeastern Gilliam County near the Morrow County–Gilliam County line.
Additional updates will be provided as confirmed information becomes available.
