🚫 BURN BAN IN EFFECT – UNINCORPORATED LIBERTY COUNTY

The Liberty County Board of Commissioners adopted the Community Risk Reduction (CRR) ordinance in January of 2026 with an effective date of March 1st, 2026. In the CRR the County has the ability to limit outdoor burning due to hazardous fire conditions, including extreme drought.

A burn ban is currently in effect and will remain in place until conditions improve and it is safe to lift.

This action follows a recent increase in large, difficult-to-control brush fires that have placed added strain on emergency resources and increased risks to life, property, and natural resources.

The CRR provides the Fire Chief the ability to implement burn bans whenever conditions warrant in order to prevent dangerous fire activity.

Education and voluntary compliance will remain the priority, with enforcement used only when necessary to address unsafe conditions.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping all of Liberty County safe.
