The HPD is giving notice that there will be traffic interruption/delays on Main Street between 10:00am and 10:45am on Monday May 25, 2026 due to the Memorial Day parade. Alternate routes are recommended.

We would also like to remind everyone that the town has a 10PM noise ordinance. Not that anyone would ever dream of breaking it... please be considerate of your neighbors and have a wonderful and SAFE Memorial Day weekend.

Good Morning,

We are currently in possession of vehicle parts that were left behind early this morning after multiple mailboxes and their heavy-duty posts were struck and destroyed. The damage to the vehicle involved would have been significant.

If you were driving that vehicle:

1: We hope you are okay.
2: Please contact us to discuss the situation, including the consequences of leaving the scene of an accident and potential criminal mischief charges.

We are actively working to identify the individual involved and will pursue an arrest warrant if necessary. Taking care of this voluntarily is far less inconvenient than the alternative.

The vehicle appears to have a number marking—maybe their favorite NASCAR driver? Could this be a fan of Spencer Boyd?

If anyone has information or camera footage of a vehicle traveling westbound on Brattleboro Road after 4:00 AM on 04/27/2026 or has any additional information, please contact Chief Melissa Evans at 603-336-5723 or [email protected].

Does anyone know Katie? She was found on the bank of the CT River, in the area of 551 Northfield Rd, by some dog loving boaters. Katie Will be at the Hinsdale Police Station for 30 minutes to an hour before I have to take her to the Monadnock Humane Society for the night.

There was a recent comparison regarding the gates up at the old bridges to the 'Cold War' boarder crossings.

We've assigned our smallest (and arguably most vigilant) officer to keep an eye on the closed bridges. Her specialties include snack detection, morale boosting, and reminding everyone that sometimes things aren't quite as dramatic as they sound.

That said, we do want to take a moment to respectfully address a recent comparison that's been circulating.

References to "Cold War border crossings" — particularly the Berlin Wall — carry real historical weight. That period was marked by families being separated, heavily armed checkpoints, restricted movement, and, in many cases, people risking — and sometimes losing — their lives attempting to cross. It was a time defined by fear, control, and very real human consequences.

What we have here in Hinsdale and Brattleboro is something very different.

The Anna Hunt Marsh and Charles Dana bridges are currently closed for safety reasons due to structural concerns, narcotic use, illegal dumping and past vandalism. They remain under state control, with future plans for rehabilitation. There are no checkpoints, no restrictions on movement between communities, and no barriers preventing travel between towns.

In fact, crossing between Brattleboro and Hinsdale is simple and fully accessible via the new bridge just down river a bit, which was built specifically to maintain safe and reliable travel.

We understand the desire to make a strong visual point — but it's equally important that we keep comparisons grounded in reality, especially when they involve moments in history that carried such profound human impact.

Our focus remains where it should be:
✔️ Public safety
✔️ Responsible infrastructure management
✔️ Keeping both communities connected in practical, realistic ways

And, of course...

🐾 Occasional assistance from Officer Olive.

Thank you to everyone working together to keep these conversations thoughtful, respectful, and productive.

We have been informed that Brattleboro Police Department is now trying to cover their tracks by using the influence of one of biggest dealers of baby chicks around. Blue Seal is also under investigation for allegedly lacing their baby chicks with something called Chicken Math. This has affected many homesteads who thought they wanted five chickens, but now many are saying it’s like a drug and the math is not adding up.

Careful, Vinnie is on to this.

First, we have the big dog trafficking and now we have BIG chicken pharma helping to cover it all up.

Justice for Ginny, she says no deal. 🐕

UPDATE: We had a great time sharing Ginny’s story yesterday. I am sure Brattleboro Police Department will give treats if Ginny decides to work another shift.

On that note, Ginny’s rescue story out Tennessee is one that unfortunately is a real story. She was adopted from the Windham County Humane Society in 2017 and has been a sweetheart.

Both Windham County and Monadnock Humane Society have worked closely with Law Enforcement during animal cruelty investigations.

Without the collaboration with these local organizations, the mistreated and neglected animals would not have the opportunity to learn what it means to be cared for.

If there ever were organizations that were worthy of donations, it’s your local animal shelters.

Justice for Ginny, consider donating to your local shelters.

This one came across Detective Olive’s desk… and we had questions.

🐾 K9 UNIT UPDATE 🐾

Hinsdale Police, in coordination with the Homeland Security Pet Division, is investigating a cross-state dog trafficking and forced labor case.

Detective Olive (who is definitely on payroll) is leading the investigation.

Initial statements indicate Ginny was made to dispatch while working in Brattleboro…
and was compensated with absolutely nothing.

We’d like to remind our neighboring agency that in Hinsdale, we believe in fair pay… and snacks.

A quick real note—
Ginny was rescued from a dumpster in Tennessee as a puppy and later adopted here in Vermont. She still has a fear of dumpsters—but she’s come a long way.

Be kind—to animals and to people.

Ginny has advised she may be willing to resolve this matter outside of court…
for appropriate snack-based compensation. 🦴😄

We will provide updates as treats are received.
