Well, it's a rare incident my sleep is interrupted by the damned entities of the house, but this morning was a first in a few years.
I retired for the night about 11:45 last night feeling pretty good considering. At 2:05 this morning, I woke abruptly, opened my eyes, and there at the side of my bed, in front of the closet doors, was a frightening sight.
There's only about 5 feet from my bed to the closet, and beside my bed is a large night stand. There is approximately 2 feet from the far edge of the night stand to the closet door, but regardless, I was staring at someone's midriff. There is a nightlight on the opposite side of the room offering enough ambient light to make out everything in the bedroom.
What I saw was blurry without my glasses on. I blinked a few times and at some point within a few seconds I quietly said "wtf," but the words, not w-t-f. When I said it, Yoda, lying on the bed on my opposite side, began barking quite aggressively as he does when someone he doesn't know is near.
I was on my left side, I put my hand on Yoda, turned to reach for my lamp, and as things always happen, whatever/whoever was standing there was gone. Yeah, p**f right?
At first, i attributed this "vision" as the fringes of a dream i woke from. That is, until Yoda went somewhat berserk. It's now 4:44. At 3:45 I took Yoda out for a potty call. When we came back in, rather stand and wait for his usual treat by the kitchen, he immediately and quickly went directly to the bedroom.
It WASN'T a dream after all. So wtf was it, and why?
I've been reluctantly absent from the house for God knows how long. A year, more? I'm not really sure. I've heard many tell me my 24 unit apartment building is haunted. Four people have died in the 18 months I've lived here. Was it residual energy from a former resident of the complex, or the as***le from Hinsdale who crept into my non paranormal existence? My belief? The as***le, because while I'm typing this I have that "goosie" feeling and what feels like a twinge from the house at the end of McMahon road. For those who are truly connected to the house, the twinge is unmistakable.
Whatever the case, I'm pi**ed now. I'm usually up my 7am and it's now 5am. Yoda is lying on the bed next to me, eyes closed. When I move, I disturb him and he opens his eyes and immediately fixates on the exact spot on the other side of the nightstand. Again, wtf. I keep the paranormal at bay for personal reasons. Tina and I were talking and we said maybe I should call Dan to open the house a few times for investigators this summer.
I miss the house. I don't necessarily miss explaining what truly happened in the 70s because too many have botched the actual story and add their own bu****it because they don't LISTEN or do their due diligence in researching, or getting the story from the horses mouth.
I love the house, but not for the same reasons investigators do. That year and a half in the 70s and the thousands of times I've visited are part of who I am in a sense. At one time, there was a nemesis who I know despises me floating around the Dandy House. I don't know if that same entity is present, or if something else has been appointed to keep me at bay. I DO know I'm not welcomed with open arms by something.
Father Al and God protect me from the evil that occasionally pops up when I've visited.
Whoever visited me this morning is welcome to return, but beware of Yoda. Now its time to try and sleep a little.
