This afternoon between 1 pm and 3 pm, an exercise of the Vermont AMBER Alert System will be conducted by the Vermont Department of Public Safety.

This exercise will test the functionality of various components of Vermont’s AMBER Alert system. Specifically, the VT-Alert system will send messages to the thousands of subscribers, the Vermont Agency of Transportation message boards will be populated with exercise information and Vermont Lottery will activate their system to message their signs, tickets and kiosks. The Emergency Alert System (EAS) will also be utilized to send test messages to TV and radio stations. As in the past, the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) will not be utilized.

During this exercise phone alerts will only occur for those who have signed up for Vermont Alert . Anyone who wishes to receive AMBER Alerts and BLUE Alerts in the future, including the latest up-to-date information at the time of the alert, can register for a free account by going to the website at https://vem.vermont.gov/vtalert

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT...

The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a

* Flood Watch for Portions of central and southern New Hampshire, including the following areas, in New Hampshire, Western and Central Hillsborough. In central New Hampshire, Merrimack and Sullivan. In southern New Hampshire, Cheshire.

* Through late Monday night.

* Tropical Storm Henri will bring periodic heavy rains to portions of southwest New Hampshire through late Monday night. The repeated impacts of these showers will likely lead to localized flooding in the area. Most areas within the watch area could see 1 to 3 inches of rainfall, with locally higher amounts.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The National Weather Service in Gray, ME has extended the Flood Warning for the Ashuelot River in southwestern Cheshire County until 10PM tonight (7/19/21).



At 1100 AM EDT, Gauge and emergency manager reports indicate river

and stream flooding continues along the Ashuelot River. No

additional rainfall is expected, but river levels will be slow to

fall today.



* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Keene, Swanzey, Wi******er, and Hinsdale.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.



Flooding is occurring. It is important to know where you are

relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in

heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National

Weather Service when you can do so safely.



Entities completing their operations outdoors using tents should utilize the tent manufacturer’s instructions in regards to wind speeds and severe weather and take appropriate precautionary actions.

* Flash Flood Warning for...

Southwestern Hillsborough County in southern New Hampshire...

* Until midnight EDT.

* At 901 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Given
the heavy rain that occurred last night, it will not take much
rain to produce flash flooding. Additional rainfall amounts up to
1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing
or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Keene, Jaffrey, Swanzey, Peterborough, Rindge, Wi******er,
Marlborough, Fitzwilliam, Greenfield, and Hancock.

Mount Monadnock, North Pack Monadnock.
