Tomorrow, our GCPL seniors will officially join our alumni community. We are proud of the exceptional leaders they have become and look forward to all they will accomplish ✨️

P.S. Keep an eye out for the red, white, and blue cords—symbols of their time, commitment, and achievement in the program.

Spring crisis simulation 🌎

During the spring 2026 crisis simulation, the Garfield Scholars examined — in great detail — many facets of the current war in Iran and the possible ways to resolve the conflict. They engaged in this examination by dividing into four teams which represented the governments of the US, Israel, Iran and the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Those teams/countries then interacted with each other over the course of multiple "moves," as each team sought to resolve the crisis on terms which most closely approximated their specific team's priorities. Via this process, they came to greatly appreciate the extraordinary complexity of this situation.

We were proud to meet with GCPL alum Jeffrey Robb, now Director of Government Affairs and Special Assistant to the President at the American Train Dispatchers Association, during our time in Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸

Reflecting on our visit and his experience, he shared: “It was a pleasure having the students from GCPL visit the AFL-CIO building and discuss the intersection of advocacy and policy at the federal level. I still use the lessons I learned at the Garfield Center in my work today… whether I’m talking to policymakers or engaging with complex legislative issues.”

It was a full-circle moment for our students to see the lasting impact of GCPL in action.

Many thanks to Jeffrey for hosting us!
